Hiking Must Haves Kit

Hiking Travel Kit & Accessories

Here at Wanderfully Lost we LOVE being outdoors. Hiking is one of our favorite activities and we often choose our travels based on hikes we want to take. Whether you’re taking your kiddos to your local trail to get the wiggles out or jet setting to South America to trek the Andes Mountains, read on for our favorite hiking gear.

Hiking Shoes

What you wear on your feet can make or break your experience. Depending on your hike you may want a full boot or a hiking shoe. Follow these links to see our go to shoes for men and women.

Socks

Wool socks are a must under your hiking boots. You’ll find them to be warm but breathable, as well as moisture wicking. Merino Wool Socks

Child Carrier

If you’re bringing your littles along for your hike, check out our favorite carrier. The Osprey Poco Plus comes with storage, a sunshade and even a pocket for a hydration pouch. For kiddos weighing 16-48lbs.

Hydration Pack

Here you’ll find our favorite hydration backpack from Camelback. This one is wanderful because it comes with some storage but is still pretty compact, while holding three liters of water for those longer treks.

Trekking Poles

Next up, trekking poles for stability on all terrains. Trail Buddy Trekking Poles are light weight, fit in your back pack and come with a variety of tips for different conditions.

Emergency Gear

Anything can happen on the trails, and usually when you least expect it. These next emergency essentials are always in our packs when we hit the dirt.

Bear Spray for any threatening animal (or person!) you might come across.

A whistle with multiple functions (thermometer, compass, light and more) just in case you find yourself in a predicament.

Lifestraw is our favorite gadget in the case you run out of water. This straw has a high-tech filter in it to make the water you come across in nature drinkable. It removes bacteria, parasites and even micro plastics. Plus, an unlimited shelf life. How cool is that!

This first aid kit won’t take up much room in your pack and you’ll be glad to have it on hand if anything happens.
